Thankful for Little Details

Everything's ready to go for this week's trip to Portland, and in the more quiet moments of the morning I've been preparing for Thanksgiving. I love preparing food for friends and loved ones, and treasure the time spent around the table.

This year I've been embroidering organic tea towels for the event with drawings from my sketchbook...they will make nice little gifts for my hosts. They are inspired by the little details I appreciate, that too often are easily overlooked: the last pieces of flowers hanging on for one more day, the abundant mushrooms on the forest floor and trees, a bird napping on a branch.

[ABOVE] This soft red embroidered flower tea towel captures the image of the last flowers of the season, hanging on to their stems by a thread.

[ABOVE] My favorite of the 3 designs: a little bird perched on a blue tea towel.
