Fall's off to a busy start, and any moment I can steal away to do my stitching is a cherished one.
Often that comes in the early (and I do mean early) hours of the day, before even my friends on the east coast are awake. These are the hours my mind is most clear, and I'm truly focused on the more complex parts of my creative work and able to get perspective on the day to come. When I hear my daughter's footsteps come down the stairs, I know the rest of the world is awake and it's time to turn to the task of making breakfast, calling customers, and getting orders together. The whirlwind of the day has begun.
With a trip to NYC coming up and the holiday season just around the corner, those quiet morning times to myself will be all the more special. All the prep work for my Etsy workshop is done, and I'm getting started on filling Halloween orders.
This is really the first time I've offered Halloween-specific items, and I've already received a great response to my felt crowns and wands—popular with wizards and fairy princesses (and even their cats).
Speaking of cats, I've also created a new special black cat edition of the stuffed companion cat, adorned with a small pumpkin on its shirt. Like all of the stuffed companions, it's available plain or personalized, as a boy or a girl. Your hand-stitched message goes inside the pumpkin.
Of course it wouldn't be a Kata Golda Halloween if there wasn't a felt photo album involved. The felt-covered pumpkin brag book holds 36 photos and is decorated with a felt pumpkin design that's similar to the one on my pumpkin enclosure card. It can be personalized with a hand-stitched name or message (I chose "little pumpkin" for my little girl's album).
Looking back on all of these items, it's clear that I've once I've been inspired by my garden, and I've used pumpkins quite a bit in these designs. Their shape and color are a reminder that fall's fading light does not mean a loss of vibrance.
